Description
Before the Indiana Pacers could reel off nine playoff appearances in 10 seasons between 2011 and 2020, they had to redefine themselves for a new decade of basketball. Enter 2008-09 Most Improved Player of the year Danny Granger and big man Roy Hibbert, who’d become a consistent force for one of the Eastern Conference’s scariest teams in the 2010s. In five-and-a-half seasons together, with three All-Star nods among them, Granger and Hibbert kicked off the team’s string of postseason success in 2011, laying the ground for sustained success. Seen on March 15, 2011, Granger and the 7-foot-2 Hibbert take turns gashing the New York Knicks for post-up shots underneath. Then Granger plays the role of hero, biding his time in isolation atop the key before making his final move, burying a game-winning 17-foot pull-up jumper to beat the buzzer and the Knicks, 119-117. Granger and Hibbert combined for 41 points, 19 rebounds, eight assists and five blocks in the thrilling triumph, giving Pacers fans plenty to look forward to in the years to come.
