Description
As the NBA’s history books would ultimately attest, the stories of both the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls — given their association with a one-of-a-kind shooting guard — were closely connected throughout the turn of the new millennium. Well on his way towards becoming an outstanding two-guard in his own right, Richard Hamilton found no issue using his signature off-ball intuition to create some disconnect on April 13, 2000. Offering the type of play that would define his legacy over the ensuing 14 seasons, Hamilton breaks free of Fred Hoiberg’s defense by curling off of a screen before powering through the lane for an accurate midrange pull-up. Battling the eventual 1999-00 Rookie of the Year winner on the opposing side, Hamilton was excellent, scoring 26 points (including 11 of Washington’s final 13) on efficient 11-of-16 shooting, alongside three rebounds, four assists, and two 3-pointers in the win. An eventual three-time All-Star, Hamilton seized his opportunity at additional playing time during the Wizards’ final stretch, in which established himself as a promising, bonafide scorer (17.4 points per game) over the season's final 10 games.
